Nine neighborhoods across seven states will embark on the transformation of their communities with support from the $180 million Fifth Third Empowering Black Futures Neighborhood Program.
Over the next three years, the neighborhoods and the cross-sector partnerships leading them will carry out an economic mobility plan that defies historic disinvestment and reflects the hopes and aspirations of residents and stakeholders.
Meet the neighborhoods and follow their progress as they produce homes, improve education and energize commercial corridors toward revitalization and wealth-generation for Black legacy residents and business owners.
JEWEL Human Services
The centerpiece of JEWEL Human Services’ comprehensive ROCK (Renewing Our Community for the Kingdom) Initiative is the creation of a middle and high school education center in Arlington Woods.
Avondale Development Corporation
The Avondale Development Corporation has built a comprehensive plan to ensure residents who can trace their Avondale lines back generations truly benefit from the momentum that has led Avondale to be dubbed “the hottest neighborhood in Cincinnati.”
Cleveland Neighborhood Progress
A home-repair and rehabilitation program is at the heart of Cleveland Neighborhood Progress’ plan to harness the resurgence underway in the community and expand homeownership opportunities for long-term Buckeye residents.
Community Development Corporation of Tampa
The Nehemiah Legacy Project is East Tampa’s comprehensive plan to grow the upward mobility of over 750 Black residents who live, work and own property in the neighborhood – and create a tipping point for economic mobility.
Grove Park Foundation
From increasing the supply of affordable homes and launching an incubator site to supporting new and existing Black businesses, Grove Park residents will gain new pathways to homeownership and economic prosperity.
Historic West End
Charlotte, North Carolina
LISC-Charlotte will develop a community-informed agenda to leverage the revitalization underway along a key corridor in the Historic West End by providing training and support for homeowners and small and local businesses.
Near East Side
Partners Achieving Community Transformation
With over 10 years of experience implementing its community-driven Blueprint for Community Investment, the PACT community is focused on changing the economic trajectory of the Near East Side with a revitalization initiative called Delivering Black Dreams.
